The Public Works Department (PWD) of Meghalaya is the executing agency which is responsible for planning, designing and, implementing civil works that includes rehabilitation / up-gradation of existing roads and construction of missing links / bypasses / bridges in and across the state in phases.
Under Phase I, rehabilitation of ten (10) existing strategic road stretches across east and west parts of the state covering mix of state highways, MDRs and bridges have been taken up. Under Phase II, urban and other non-urban roads have been selected.
The Meghalaya Institute of Governance (MIG) has undertaken a crucial role in the execution of the various projects in these two phases. MIG conducted a verification exercise for the project-affected persons (PAPs) as identified in the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) studies and the Rehabilitation Action Plan (RAP) reports prepared by the consultancy agency for the Public Works Department (PWD). This exercise was aimed at validating the information regarding affected families and their losses.
